Today I’m 25 again, my mind wiped clean from years of stain.
Enthusiasm back inside, looking forward to the ride
My step springs with youthful hope, for future plans I don’t yet know
To jump the hedge and vault the gate, to race along to unknown date
A heart that’s free, that knows no fear the sun of youth that shines so clear.
All choice is now in front of me, my mind my own, I can be free.
Excited, running down the lane, body free of aches and pains
That age and accident brings on, shouting out and singing song.
No thought of actions going forth, but random turns with random thought.
Paths to take with no clear end, let’s see what’s round the next few bends.
Close my eyes now, dream away, think not of the next new day
Or where I was or where I’ve been, or what would be the next new scene.
Revelling in the course of youth, look back in envy, and that’s the truth
We may be old and wiser now, it all slipped by. I don’t know how.
